A boutique guesthouse in north-west London

Built in the 1800’s, Ornan Court is a red brick mansion which was renovated and now consists of 56 private ensuite studios, a shared kitchen, cosy lounge and a private garden to enjoy. In fact, a famous magician named David Devant (1868-1941) lived in this historic building, occupying Flat No.1 and is honoured by a blue plaque.

The Challenge

We were tasked to design and install a fixed and wireless data network, focussing on resiliency and future proofing for years to come. Due to Ornan Court’s fascinating historic nature with the building being over 150 years old, the renovation faced obstacles along the way, such as requiring re-cabling and we adapted our rollout plans to suit. Multiple vendors required a fully managed network for hard wired and wireless services. A robust system was the long-term goal for this project, particularly for guests needing a fast and reliable WiFi network in order to enjoy their stay.

Our Solution

Right from the project’s beginning, we consulted on the entire data infrastructure and project managed our installations through to the completion, ready to welcome guests. We designed our resilient data network for multiple vendors, which includes enterprise grade Wi-Fi Internet access across the building for all guests, alongside redundant Fibre connectivity.
Our managed services for the building include: high-speed WiFi and network switching for door access, CCTV and in-room smart TV’s. Additionally, a battery backup system was installed to ensure that guests are never left short of a connection in the event of a power cut.
