High Quality Scaffolding Services​

The Challenge
 

Masons Scaffolding wanted to move their Sales teams from their Beckenham Depot to high-quality offices in the London Bridge area, to better serve their clients. The entire 3rd floor in Saxon House was chosen and due to the fast moving nature of the scaffolding world, a tight deadline was set to install high-speed Internet. A Fibre Leased Circuit was ordered with a 1Gbps upload speed, together with Ruckus WiFi to control the AV equipment in the Boardroom, PCs in the open-plan Sales office and on the other side of the building, the Admin Department’s PCs, Printer and private offices belonging to the Directors. Staff mobiles and Laptops would also need the fastest speeds possible. As the floor was empty and Masons were able to customise the space, a new installation with skilled Fibre Engineers would be required. As the building was built before 2000 (1867 to be precise) the Asbestos Report would need to be available for inspection by BT Openreach and LCC Engineers before any work could start.

Our Solution
 

LCC conducted a full site survey with an independent contractor within 7 days and then re-attended some 3 weeks later with 3 BT Fibre Engineers inside the building and a further pair of Engineers outside handling street works. All the fibre in Southwark Street is underground and unusually, runs down the centre of the street. It was at this point the Engineers suffered a technical glitch and the expected go-live would now be missed, even though the Fibre was installed in a wall-mounted Data Cabinet with LCC’s Router switched on. After several days of non-activity with the offices now fully branded with Masons logos and all the furniture assembled and in place, LCC suggested trying out a satellite system on the 7th Floor roof with a draped pair of cables (for Power and Data) down to an open 3rd Floor window. Permission was obtained from the building’s management and a portable Starlink system installed. The Ruckus WiFi was also able to operate using Starlink and with the exception of an outage (when the roof dish was moved) the temporary Internet working well. After 11 visits by LCC staff and Engineers, the Fibre was switched on, the Starlink removed and full connectivity given to all the devices and Ruckus Wireless Access Points, all of which worked perfectly.
